Detailed Description
|
Far too often, the prevailing models of church leadership are uncritically imported from the corporate business world or from secular systems of administration. Church leaders must return to the basic teachings of the NT to redefine their leadership constructs. In order to understand Jesus' view of how leadership ought to be exercised within the local church, the article calls attention to Matthew 8:15-20 and examines examples from the book of Acts. Nine specific conclusions regarding the role of leadership in community are provided. It behooves church leaders who are pushing the current wave of leader-olatry to recognize that they may be striking at the very foundations of the biblical definition of community.
