This article highlights the many women called to lead in the Bible, explains that egalitarian interpretation and a high view of Scripture are totally compatible, lists seven major arguments of hierarchicalists, and provides the egalitarian responses to them. Evangelicals should strive to provide opportunities for women to exercise the gifts of the Spirit they have received, even where they are not currently permitted to exercise the office of pastor or teacher. Thus, the church would not lose the benefits that God's gifts were intended to provide, nor would our sisters be compelled to hide their light under a bowl.
